Our First Ride for 2018

Last night (May 10th)was an awesome time. While the weather was a bit cool and windy we rode 12 km. There were 7 of us with the youngest being 5.

Together as a community we decided to first to head to Crothers Conservation Area.  We headed out down James St threw the municipal parking lot (Old liquidation street) crossed over Wellington down William Street  to Wall St. From there we headed towards Nelson down Nelson to Crothers trail.

It park was quiet.  One lady, who was walking on the path greeted us with a smile as she was enjoying the peaceful sites sights and sounds.    When we came to the end of the trail it was time for a small break and enjoyed the beautiful sun rays peering through the clouds upon the barren field just waiting to be planted.

After re-hydrating ourselves and feeling the urge to continue further, we decided to head towards Taylor’s Convenience.  So we headed down Forhan to Elgin to Dauw then on to Dufferin Ave.  The smell of spring was in the air at every turn while the tulips and spring flowering trees greeted us.  At the corner of Dufferin and Bruinsma (Taylor’s Parking lot) we all still want to continue on with our adventure.

So we decide to head down Elm St to Garnet St to Old Glass Rd. Taking a quick break at the corner to see how everyone was doing we decided to continue on our journey to Base Line over the bridge to Murray Street.  This was the hardest part of oubr journey for a few members but they felt an accomplishment when we rested at parking lot across the street from Tackle and bait store.

With the exhilaration pumping through our veins we decide to head to   Glen Mickle Park.  So heading down Base Line to Albert st to Henry st we entered Glen Mickle Park.  The park was very active with families enjoying the weather and many using the exercise trail.

While the Glen Mickle hill called out to us to try and tackle its terrain we could not as many young ones were having fun climbing and rolling down it.

We took a longer rest here giving our youngest member (5 years old) time to play on the equipment.

After our rest we decided it was getting late and decided to head back to the fountain park on James St.   So we headed out Edwy St to Albert to King to McDougal St to Wallace to McNaughton over the bridge to the fountain park.

I must admit it was an awesome time and the sights and smells were amazing.  The vehicle drivers were extremely nice giving us the opportunity to continue together on our journey even though they had the right away.  Thank you very much for your kindness it did not go unnoticed.

If you missed out on this week’s adventure don’t worry we are going out again on Thursday 17 and we have many more scheduled for the season.

Until next week, ride often, ride safe and enjoy the views for there is an adventure around every corner.
